Directors Note
Welcome to Tarzan!
In the summer of 1999 Disney’s Tarzan hit the big screen with innovative new animation styles and bold new music by British rockstar Phil Collins. The story of an outsider finding his place in the world as well as the concept of family in all of its forms was a message that quickly made this film a beloved part of the Disney cannon. In 2006 the stage production debuted on Broadway adding more depth to the characters and their relationships as well as blessing us with additional music from the talented Collins. In the summer of 2017 Four Seasons Theatre Company had the opportunity to share this wonderful production with our audiences. This experience left a mark on the hearts of all who were involved.
While creating the lineup for our 2024 season, it was evident that it was time for Tarzan to return to the Four Seasons’ stage. It’s not often that as a director you have the opportunity to revisit a production that has meant so much to you and to have that experience be equally impactful and life changing. During these polarizing times, focusing on the things that make us the same versus our differences, is a message that I believe could really change the world. Thank you to the incredible production team and the unbelievably talented cast and technicians for making this experience so memorable. A special thank you to my dear friend who has given Tarzan it’s heart and his changed my entire life “For Good.” Thank you to our faithful audiences who make these productions possible. Please keep supporting the arts and enjoy the show!
